Mining & Mineral Processing

Northwestern Province is Zambia’s leading mining region, home to world-class copper, cobalt, and gold deposits. The mining and mineral processing sector forms the backbone of the province’s economy, offering opportunities in exploration, beneficiation, engineering services, and downstream manufacturing. With growing global demand for critical minerals and Zambia’s drive for local value addition, investors can tap into a thriving ecosystem that connects mining operations, industrial parks, and logistics corridors such as the Lobito Corridor. Our facilitation team, led by the Northwestern Chamber of Commerce & Industry, connects investors to mining companies, suppliers, and government agencies to streamline project approvals, partnerships, and industrial park development.
Exploration & Extraction

The province offers extensive untapped mineral potential across copper, cobalt, gold, and manganese. Investors can partner with existing mining operations or acquire exploration licenses in emerging zones with strong geological prospects and infrastructure support.

Mineral Beneficiation

Opportunities exist to establish smelters, refineries, and metal processing plants for copper, cobalt, and gold. Value addition through cutting, polishing, or alloy manufacturing is encouraged under Zambia’s beneficiation policy, supported by tax incentives and access to energy infrastructure.

Engineering & Mining Services

Local and international investors can establish firms providing drilling, equipment maintenance, fabrication, and safety services. The Chamber facilitates partnerships between mine operators and SMEs to localize supply chains and strengthen industrial linkages.

Industrial Parks & Supply Chain Hubs

Industrial zones in Solwezi and Kalumbila are being developed to host suppliers and processing facilities. These hubs benefit from reliable power, logistics infrastructure, and proximity to major mining operations — creating a ready market for goods and services.

How we help

The Northwestern Chamber of Commerce & Industry provides direct facilitation for mining and mineral processing investors by:

Linking investors with mining firms, license holders, and district councils.
Assisting with regulatory guidance (licensing, environmental compliance, ZDA incentives).
